Is the Nokia N96 to expensive?

October sees the launching of Nokia’s latest mobile phone, the N96 and it is rumoured that it will carry a retail price of a staggering £550, this really would be a new benchmark for what Nokia hope will be a mass market product.

It is always important that the mobile phone networks are happy to buy the manufacturers latest products, well 02 for example are refusing to take the Nokia N96 because of their commitment to the Apple iPhone other operators are finding the price unacceptable. When you consider that the pay as you go version of the iphone will be available for £399 the N96 has a task to prove itself worthy of it’s price point.

The Nokia N95 was a great success and there will be large numbers of customers that are coming to the end of their mobile phone contracts interested in upgrading to the Nokia N96, will it be too expensive?

The N95 and its successor were phenomenally expensive when first launched three years ago but with features and specs so far in advance of its competitors that it was well worth paying the nearly £500 for and in comparison the price tag of £550 is well worth paying for the hugely improved N96.
