This Christmas the battle between the major mobile phone manufacturers and the mobile phone networks for music on your mobile phone is going to be fierce.Vodafone have joined the fray by announcing that they are going to be giving unlimited free music in it’s bid to counter the appeal of the forth coming iPhone.
Music will certainly dominate the critical 4th quarter sales leading upto Christmas.
Vodafone’s MusicStation add on service that was launched at £1.99 per week will be offered free to anybody taking out an 18 month mobile phone contract costing £40 or more per month.
To help them drive this iniative Vodafone have negotiated exclusive deals with Noka for the 8gb Nokia N95 and with Sony Ericsson for the gold W910.
Vodafone have done the deal for the music content in these mobile phones with Omnifone despite the efforts of Carphone Wharehouse to tie up an exclusive deal.
